This is going to be a short post guys but thought of it just this morning and thought id put it up while its fresh on my mind. Since the end of February I’ve been on a mission to lose body fat. Its gone really well I’m over a stone lighter (not that that’s the most important measure of progress) my before and after pictures are looking good and I can honestly say I feel great. One thing that I do and promote when trying to lose body fat is to make sure I get plenty of vegetables in. I also spend almost all my time eating real food which is nutrient rich. Now this is the reason I feel good.
Every now and then over the last few months I let myself have a little treat. This weekend I we were invited to Sally’s (My partner) grandmas house for Dinner. So I timed a treat for this day knowing that she tends to do some excellent cakes and desserts (if you read this G they were delicious). So after a long time not having anything like that I had some apple crumble and some lemon trifle with cream and custard (naughty i know). Now remember I have been feeling great from my diet/training for months now, getting up in the morning has been easy. When I woke up this morning however, it felt as if I had drunk 10 pints the night before even tho I hadn’t drunk a drop. This is what is called a food hangover. I had eaten food high in sugar and to be fair a lot of it. My body wasn’t used to this so I woke up feeling like crap and not wanting to get out of bed. I’m back on it this morning, trained, and safe to say I feel much better.
The reason it hit me so hard this morning is that I have spent a long time eating really nutritious food that isn’t constantly making my blood sugar peak and drop that when I did have something that did I was really aware of the symptoms. For me this has re-enforced my goal as I really don’t want to feel like that again. Now let’s get away from training and think about day-to-day life. Many people wake up feeling really tired even tho they have slept all night. You hear things like “I don’t do mornings”. We shouldn’t feel exhausted when we wake up if we have had a good night sleep, we should feel energised and ready for the day to come. Ones diet I believe is one of the reasons that this happens often we find when people are eating more good nutritious food all of a sudden they come in and tell us they feel more energised when they wake and through the day. Then when they have a naughty meal (like I did yesterday) they as well are more of the symptoms.
What difference would it make to your home life, work life and productivity if you are bouncing out of bed ready for the day?
